I’m a photographer hoping to showcase the beauty of the communities we live in. I’m a Michigan native and focus on photographing people and places in Southeast Michigan.
My journey with photography started when I moved into a new apartment. In an effort to fill in my space for as little money as possible, while also giving it some of that worn/vintage character I love, I started perusing local garage and estate sales.
While looking at the clutter and remnants left behind for one reason or another, old film cameras caught my eye again and again. It was inevitable that I would buy one. The real trick was finding a camera that I could start shooting on the second I got it. That’s how a Minolta SRT 201 coupled with an array of lenses found me. This thing is a heavy hunk of metal that promises to slowly bow my head over time. Perfect.
The second the camera was in my hands, I was visiting my local camera shop to pester them. Does this thing even work? Apparently, with an old thing like this, you toss the film in and pray for good times. Luckily, the camera came through and I had my first images. I’ve been shooting film whenever I can since and quickly expanded to the digital camera space to explore photography even more.
